Mindfulness, Meditation and Manifestation: A Group for African-American Women
In today’s political climate, combined with the long, painful history of race relations in this country, safe spaces for African-American people are increasingly needed in order to promote sharing, healing, and growth—both individually and collectively. Also, as an African-American woman who works in the field of mental health, it has become both a personal and professional mission of mine to establish these kinds of spaces, precisely because there are so few. As a result, I am starting a new group with that specific goal in mind, to create and hold space for African-American women who want to learn strategies for self-care and growth.
One key to maintaining your emotional well-being is to incorporate the practice of mindfulness and meditation into your everyday routine. If you have ever been curious about the concepts of mindfulness or meditation, this group will teach you practical ways of applying them to your daily life.
With ongoing practice, mindfulness and meditation can be transformative in the ways that you see and understand yourself and the world around you. These techniques will help you restore emotional balance, be more fully present in your life, and set the stage for taking active steps toward meaningful change. You will also learn how to move through any emotional hurdles you may be facing. By learning to use techniques of mindfulness and meditation, you will create a foundation for your innermost dreams and desires for your life to manifest.
In a warm atmosphere of like-minded others, you will have accountability partners to help support you in walking toward your best self and a more enriched life. We will meet one Saturday per month to practice mindfulness and meditation, set specific goals that are within your reach, and develop a step-by-step plan for working toward these goals.
The class will meet once a month. The first class will meet on Saturday, January 20, 2018, at 10:00 am-11:30 am. Follow-up meetings will take place on the first Saturday of each month at the same time. Bring a journal, an open mind, and an open heart. Embarking on this journey of mindfulness, self-care and self-discovery will lead you to a life filled with intention and purpose.
